Anti-Ragging Policy and Regulations
Ragging is a criminal offense, strictly prohibited by both State and Central Governments.
Punishment for Ragging:
- Imprisonment up to three years
- Fine of Rs. 50,000/-
- Dismissal from the college
Role of Anti-Ragging Committee:
- Ensure compliance with anti-ragging regulations and laws
- Monitor and oversee prevention of ragging in the institution
- Conduct enquiries into reported incidents of ragging
- Submit enquiry reports with recommendations to the Head of the institution
Procedure for Enquiry:
- Conduct enquiry observing fair and transparent procedures
- Follow principles of natural justice
- Give adequate opportunity to accused students and witnesses to present facts and views
- Consider relevant information and documents
Action on Reported Incidents:
- Head of institution to determine if a case under penal laws is made out
- File FIR with police/local authorities, if necessary
- Order enquiry to ascertain facts
- Take suitable action against concerned students
Timeline for Action:
- Enquiry to be completed within 7 days of reported incident
- Remedial action to be initiated immediately
